Robert Lisy, President and CEO

Robert Lisy has a successful track record of more than 18 years in the retail financial services and electronic payment processing industries. He joined Intermex in January of 2009 as President and CEO. Lisy was the Chief Marketing and Sales Officer of Vigo Remittance Corp. from 2002 – 2006, where he was responsible for conceiving, developing and directing the company’s strategic growth plan in the United States and abroad. Prior to Vigo, Lisy was a founding partner of Direct Express/Paystation America, an electronic walk-in bill payment processor. He was an integral part in the efforts to successfully sell the company in 2000 to American Payment Systems, the largest processor of walk-in payments in the country at that time. During his four plus years with Direct Express/Paystation America, he served as COO and Board Member. From 1991 to 1998, he worked for Western Union in various executive level sales, marketing and operational positions. 

Lisy was instrumental in the early development of Western Union’s international funds transfer business while directing large revenue producing units headquartered in New York City and Los Angeles. He also served as Vice President of Biller Solutions for Princeton ecommerce, a top internet bill payment processor. Lisy holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Finance and Economics from Cleveland State University.

Darrell J. Ebbert, Chief Financial Officer

As CFO, Mr. Ebbert is responsible for the company’s financial operations including financial reporting, accounting and collections. He is also responsible for maintaining the company’s U.S. banking relationships. 

His career in accounting and finance includes developing auditing policies and procedures used in leading banks, financial institutions and accounting firms. Prior to joining Intermex, Mr. Ebbert was Audit Manager for PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Ebbert is a Florida Certified Public Accountant and holds a Masters degree in Accounting, a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and an Associate of Arts in Business Data Processing.

Jose A. Perez-Villarreal, Chief Administrative Officer

Jose Perez-Villarreal is an experienced financial services executive with extensive expertise in the money transmission and telecommunications industry. During his 11 year career at Intermex, he has served in several positions including Director of Treasury and Chief Compliance Officer. As a result, Perez has vast knowledge of the day-to-day operations of the company. 

As the head of Administration, Perez is responsible for the management of the company’s operations and Intermex’s proprietary networks in Mexico and Guatemala and for overseeing the Compliance Department. His efforts developing the company’s internal compliance programs have resulted in Intermex being recognized as ‘Best in Class’ in the area of compliance. 

Prior to Intermex, Perez was the Operations Manager of a Miami-based money transmitter. He currently holds the designation of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and attended the University of Central Florida and Barry University with a focus in computer science and finance.

Brian Augustin, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer

Brian Augustin is an experienced sales and marketing executive with extensive experience in the education, money order and money transmission industries. He joined Intermex in January 2012. Brian worked for The Princeton Review for 8 years prior to joining Intermex. In his role as Regional Vice President for The Princeton Review, his responsibilities included overseeing the operations, sales, and marketing activities for up to 10 P&L business units spread out in 6 states and Puerto Rico. 

Brian also spent 4 years as VP of Sales, and was a member of the Executive team at Morey’s Seafood International. Prior to that role Brian spent 4 years running the East Coast sales organization for Travelers Express/Money Gram. He earned his MBA from the Carlson School at the University of Minnesota, and his undergraduate degree in Business from Minnesota State.

Eduardo Azcarate, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development

Eduardo Azcarate is responsible for the strategy, tactics and programs to create interest, demand and recognition of Intermex services. In addition, to ensure the service is demand driven, the Vice-President of Marketing and Business Development works with the Marketing Director, Price Manager and Inside Sales Manager to ensure the right mix of strategies, positioning and pricing. He is also responsible for planning organizing, staffing, training, and managing all marketing functions to achieve the company's objective of increasing sales, growth, profitability, and visibility while ensuring a consistent marketing message. In the Business development area, he is responsible for building strategic alliances with our Paying network in Latin-American and the Caribbean. 

Eduardo has been in the Funds Transfer industry since 1999 and held a number of positions at Servimex including Controller prior to the Intermex acquisition. Mr. Azcarate earned a B.S. Degree in Business from ICESI University in Cali, Colombia with a concentration in Marketing and Finance.
